Manual or Automatic, Dual Controls
There is a choice of tuition cars:- either MANUAL Toyota Aygo with a 5 speed manual gearbox , or AUTOMATIC Toyota Yaris Hybrid
All cars are fitted with He-Man Dual controls to give the pupil full confidence that their safety is maintained at all times.

How Many Lessons Will I Need?
Everyone is individual and learns at different speeds, so there is no one answer to this question. Consequently, the teaching is tailored to suit the pupils ability. It may vary from 35 to 100+ hours!
As a parent myself, I value safe driving above above all other aspects. Therefore, I teach pupils thoroughly so they can drive correctly and confidently in any situation for when they will be on their own. This means they are ready to take and pass their test (usually first time!).
This in itself saves on hours and costs.

Theory Preparation
It is good practice to start the Theory learning as soon as possible as the pupil will need to pass this part before taking their practical test. It will greatly help their driving lessons on the road too.
Please read and follow the link on the government website for easy results:

Also, if the pupil has a smart phone or tablet there is a very good app (currently only £4.99) that I would highly recommend

On the app store type in 'Driving Test Success'. It's worth getting the full £4.99 package

Getting to Test Standard
The starting point will depend on the pupils previous experience. If they have little or no experience, then we will run through the whole syllabus systematically.
If they have had some previous experience then an assessment lesson is conducted to establish where the teaching should be pitched. Then fill in any gaps in the syllabus.
After that we will begin to cover test routes.
This method has muliple benefits:-
-
The test route acts as a structure to the lesson
-
All previous learning is pooled together and continuously re-capped
-
The manoeuvres are covered every lesson
-
Pupil gets to hear the terminolgy used, visualise and experience what to expect from the test so there are no surprises
-
Pupil gets to physically try out 'tricky' sections of certain routes or 'nuggets' as I call them
After a few routes Mock Test 1 is conducted. This shows where the pupils standard (without help) really is. Pupils usually fail this test, but unless there are serious problems, this is the point to book the practical test as there's usually a waiting time. This waiting time enables us to fix the issues that arose in Mock Test 1.
After a few more routes Mock Test 2 is conducted; here the pupil should be approaching test standard and either pass or nearly pass.
If all goes well then pupils actual test should be a couple of lessons later and they're at test standard and ready to drive on their own AND pass the test with ease.
